China opened the world's first undersea data centre off Shanghai's coast, powered directly by offshore wind turbines. The 24 MW facility uses seawater for cooling, reducing electricity consumption by 22.8 percent and cutting cooling-related power use from one-third to one-tenth of total consumption.
