VideoLAN announced dav2d, a new software decoder for the AV2 video codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media. The project builds on experience from dav1d, an AV1 decoder, and already includes feature-complete support for both 8-bit and 10-bit AV2 decoding with optimization work underway across multiple hardware architectures.
